Time & Location

05 May 2025, 10:00 – 13:00

Colchester, Iron Latch Ln., Colchester, UK

About the event

This 15-hectare site is primarily secondary broadleaf woodland with numerous  ephemeral waterbodies. It is a ‘Local Wildlife Site’ and was a receptor site for  Great Crested Newts from the nearby development. The central area was quarried  in the past, leaving an interesting topography with high and low areas, now wet  woodland. The site is adjacent to the Essex Wildlife Trust site, Iron Latch Nature  Reserve, a coppice woodland and grassland meadow with orchids, glowworm and  numerous butterfly species. Come join us to help discover what visits this wood in  springtime. Bring any field guides/ID books. Event is weather dependent, please  wear appropriate footwear for rough ground.

To book contact Carla on 07866 553 879. Meet at the end of Iron Latch  Lane CO3 0JT. What3words: silk.quench.wipes
