About the event
Join Dougal on this exploration of this rich grassland site on the south side of Colchester, will owned by the MOD but threatened with development. We'll walk across the Wick to explore the Birch Brook Woodland, passing the dense stands of flowering gorse by the butts. Last winter's birds on the on the Wick included the Dartford Warbler, Short-Eared Owls, Stonechat, Redwings, Siskins and Redpolls, and well as Woodcock.
Meet at the army post on Mersea Road. Park in Queen Elizabeth Way on the opposite site of Mersea road. The location is on a bus route, stout footwear is advisable and not that there are no toilets on site.
