We are delighted to have been able to secure a truly inspirational crop of speakers for our winter talk season, which this year has moved online.
We kick off in November with a joint CNHS/Colchester Sixth Form College event - Dave Goulson, Averting the Insect Apocalypse. Dave is a best selling author and founder of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Dave will explain why insects are disappearing fast and how turning our gardens into oases for life & changing how we grow food could help.
Following on in an insect theme we will be joined by Erica McAlister from the London Natural History Museum, who will be exploring topics covered in her new book - The Inside Out of Flies. Erica is an authority on the subject and wants us all to look beyond what we think about this much maligned group, and see what really makes them tick. Erica has arranged a discount on her book for CNHS ticket holders.
In February we'll have an evening in conversation with James Canton, whose book, The Oak Papers, was selected as BBC Radio 4's Book of the Week. James will be taking us on a journey through myth, legend, literature and the reality of oak trees and how one in particular helped change his relationship with this iconic tree forever.
